Amanda is one of the kindest people with the biggest hearts. I met her in the wedding industry years ago and we kept in touch. She deserves the best and happiest life. I am so happy she met her soul mate, Nathan. The two bring out so much love and happiness in each other. Amanda and Nathan said I do on a Spring Day at Devils Thumb Ranch. I asked Amanda a few questions and this is how she replied…
In your words, how did you and Nathan meet?
Nathan and Amanda met at a housewarming party at Amanda’s cousins house. They had both in the same circle of friends but met on a cold February night. They started talking at the party and hit it off. Nathan invited Amanda to go to church with him which was a bonus line for Amanda. They went out on a date a few nights later then the sparks started flying. They found out how much they had in common with both being natives of Colorado, made going to church a priority and had similar goals in life.
How did the Nathan propose?
Amanda had got back form a 2 week trip in Europe with her cousin a few days before and Nathan suggested they go on a hike that Saturday. BEing gone for 2 weeks we missed each other over that time! It was the fall so it was the last chance to see the fall leaves in Breckenridge. We decided to go up to Breckenridge for the day on a off the beaten path trail. Amanda was getting cold on the hike not expecting it to be as cold in the mountains. She kept putting her hands in Nathan’s pockets to keep her hands warm.. but little did she know. Nathan stopped for a minute in the middle of the forest when they were all alone. Nathan dropped down with words of love then revealed a shiny ring. They had a never to forget moment together in a forest of pine trees on a chilly fall Saturday in Breckenridge.
What was your favorite moment of your wedding day?
Our favorite moment of the wedding day was our vows and the wedding ceremony with all of our dear friends and family surrounding us. Also having our parents pray over us was a moment we will treasure. Even though the ceremony ended up being windy we would have had no clue that was the case and it felt like it was only us at many moments in the ceremony. The views were beautiful at Devil’s Thumb Ranch making for snow capped mountains around a spring time field.
Were there any funny moments to be remembered forever about your day? Were there any mishaps?
The fun moments were when everyone hit the dance floor and had a blast cutting the rug up. As part of that there was a moment when Nathan (who is Star Wars lover) pulled out his Storm Trooper helmet and danced with it on. This was later in the night when the crowd had got smaller. Then Lanny, one of the bridesmaids also put the helmet on her less than 5′ tall head and was dancing. It was a fun memory or just letting loose on the dance floor!
Do you have any advice for a future bride to be/or groom before their wedding?
Enjoy every moment, don’t worry about all the little things. And actually Casey our photographer told me this when we had our engagement pics. I had asked her a question about any recommendations she had for the day of. Casey told me that the best weddings are fun weddings, when the bride and groom just be themselves and have fun. She said those also make for the best photos! And I would also say it can be hard to really catch up with everyone (we had less than 100 people) still making it tough. Try your best to connect with everyone but it will be challenging to do.
