First, Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Ashley and Aaron love the Irish and St. Patty’s Day. The two were married at the stunning Manor House on a March day in Denver. The only reason they didn’t say I do on St. Patty’s Day was because they were in Dublin enjoying the holiday! These two are one of the sweetest and most genuine couples. They were able to get married in the backyard and had some incredible clouds during the ceremony. After they were married everyone headed inside for some yummy food provided by Manor House catering. Before dancing began the newlyweds had an Irish surprise for their guests. The had the bagpiping band, The Mile Highlanders come and play for a while. I asked Ashley a few questions about her day and this was her response…
In your words, how did you and Aaron meet?
We met at Arizona State University working on an assignment for school with mutual friends of ours. We were going to school for the same degree but I had never seen him before. We sat near each other and as soon as I saw him, he immediately caught my eye. After finishing up on the assignment, we stuck around the school’s library and talked for almost an hour and he ended up walking me halfway home. It turned out we were actually in the same lab class together and we had just never noticed each other! I knew he was special as soon as I saw him. We started talking and spending lots of time pretty much right away and we never looked back!
What was your favorite moment of your wedding day?
I actually have two. So the first, would be during the ceremony. After my Poppy walked me down the aisle and hugged Aaron at the altar. Aaron and I got into our spots for the ceremony, we were holding hands and our eyes were both welled up with tears, we took the biggest breath together and I forgot everything that was going on around us for the moment. I have literally never been happier in my life, it was like a total dream come true. The second was after the ceremony when we were in the library getting ready to sign our marriage license. It was such a quiet and private moment while there seemed to be so many other things going on and we gave each other the biggest hug and kiss.
Were there any funny moments to be remembered forever about your day? Were there any mishaps?
I’d say when my veil flew off of my head in the middle of the ceremony. The wind was insane and my hair and veil were getting blown into my mouth and I couldn’t stop laughing. Finally, the veil caught a big gust of wind and pulled out of my hair. Our officiant, Drew, caught it and he and Aaron offered to put it back in my hair. All I could think was, no way it’ll just be blowing back in my mouth in a second anyway! haha So my sister just held it for the rest of the ceremony.
Do you have any advice for a future bride to be/or groom before their wedding?
Your wedding day is about the two of you and don’t let the craziness of the day make you forget that. Take some time to have a quiet moment together to appreciate the commitment you’re making.
