Megan and Kevin were such an awesome couple to work with! They were so much fun and have so much love for each other, they are truly best friends and soulmates. The two said I do on an incredible afternoon on top of the mountain. They celebrated and had the time of their life. I asked Megan a couple of questions about her wedding day…
In your words, how did you and Kevin meet?
Kevin and I met at the start of my senior year of college (while we were both still living in Minnesota). He was roommates with a friend of mine, and we met through him. Kevin and I started out as friends and began dating about 2-3 months after we first met, we were basically inseparable since! We had been together for about 1 1/2 years before taking the leap and moving to Colorado to start a new adventure.
How did the Kevin propose?
Kevin booked us an Airbnb in Nederland one night for a fun weekend getaway. He got us this entire cabin with a pool table and hot tub all to ourselves! He planned out a hike for us to do, doing the Lost Lake trail. Once we reached Lost Lake, he got down on 1 knee and asked me to marry him! Of course, I said yes right away!
What was your favorite moment of your wedding day?
-Honestly, having that 20 minutes alone with Kevin riding up the gondola and taking pictures at Sunspot before our ceremony (after the first look) was probably one of my favorite parts of the day! We got a short break from the chaos and had a little time to just be us; plus that time captured some of my favorite pictures from our wedding!
-The photo booth was a huge hit and so much fun for our guests! I am so glad we decided to get that!
-My niece Amelia (one of the flower girls) has a rare form of Epilepsy – (PCDH19 Epilepsy) so she is a very medically fragile nugget. Seeing her being carried down the aisle by her uncle Matt (my other brother) was just so meaningful and super adorable!
4- The first look was very emotional and I’m so glad we did it!
Were there any funny moments to be remembered forever about your day? Were there any mishaps?
-Funny: My brother Matt cutting up his dinner with his axe was hilarious, and definitely on his character! Kevin handmade each of his groomsmen an axe, with their initials burned in each one. Both of my brothers clearly loved it as they brought their axes up the hill to the wedding!
– Mishap: There was so much hairspray in the girl’s condo from getting ready that morning, that we set off the carbon monoxide alarm!
-My cousin officiated our wedding, and we accidentally did the ring ceremony minutes before we were supposed to during the services, oops! I loved the goofy, authenticity of having a family member perform our service, it was perfect for us!
Do you have any advice for a future bride to be/or groom before their wedding?
-Booking Casey as our photographer was one of our best choices! She not only did a phenomenal job capturing our day, but she was so fantastic to work with as a person! She was energetic and was by our side basically the entire day, which we loved!
– Your wedding should represent you as a couple inside and out! There will be a lot of pressure from loved ones about all those small details that in the grand scheme of things do not matter! The only thing that matters is that you’re getting to marry the love of your life and your loved ones should be honored to be there! 🙂
