Meet Two One Photography: 800+ Weddings, One Reason

In 2009 I had a camera and no idea what I was doing. What I had instead was a feeling that somebody should be in the room when the important things happen, and that most of the time nobody is. Two One Photography came out of that. More than 800 weddings later, it is still the whole point.
Why We Do This
Here is the thing nobody tells you about a wedding day. It is already over. From the second it starts it is leaving, and it does not slow down for anybody. The hug from your dad in the doorway lasts four seconds. Your mom’s face when she sees you in the dress lasts less than that. Nobody in the room will remember it accurately by Tuesday, including you, because you were inside of it instead of watching it.
That is my job. I am the one watching.
People change. That is not sad, it is just true. Your grandmother is exactly the way she is on this one day, in that dress, with that laugh, and ten years from now she may not be at the table. Your nephew is four for about eleven minutes. The friend who cried into your shoulder in the getting ready room is a specific person in a specific moment, and she will never be exactly that person again.
A photograph is the only thing you get to keep from a day that is already gone. Not a version of it. Not a memory that has softened around the edges. The actual second. The real face. The hand on the back that nobody noticed at the time.
So I do not photograph people the way they arrange themselves. I photograph them in the half second before they remember a camera is in the room. That is the frame that still holds up in thirty years, when everything else has gone fuzzy and the photograph is the only thing left that got it right.
These images outlive all of us. Your kids will meet their great grandparents through them. Somebody who has not been born yet will see the way your grandfather looked at your grandmother and understand something about their own family that nobody ever said out loud.
That is why I am still doing this after more than 800 weddings. Not for the wall. For the one who opens the box in fifty years.
The Part Where We Brag a Little
- The Knot Hall of Fame, and Best of The Knot 14 years running.
- WeddingWire Couples’ Choice, voted by actual couples, which is the only vote that has ever mattered to me.
- Proud member of the Emerge Event Collective, with over 30 years of combined experience across the team.
- Featured in The Wall Street Journal, The Huffington Post, Style Me Pretty, Rocky Mountain Bride, Pop Sugar, Bridal Guide, Denver Life Magazine, Colorado Weddings Magazine and Destination I Do.
- And two I still laugh about. Our photos have been featured at the Vatican, and in Times Square.
Where This Camera Has Been
Colorado is home and always will be. But couples keep inviting us places and we keep saying yes, so this camera has seen the Caribbean, Key Largo, the California coast, Louisiana, London, Paris, the south of France and Monaco. Destination weddings are my favorite kind of hard. One scout, unfamiliar light, no second chances.
Who You Get
There are five of us and we have worked together long enough to run a wedding day without talking much. Casey Van Horn, Alex Sedillo, Sarah McNew, Danyell Kreplin and Jaeden Barlett. Same style, same edit, same approach. Nobody strange shows up on your wedding morning, and you will have met your photographer long before the day.
We also know a lot of these venues by heart. Over 200 weddings at the Manor House alone, plus The Oaks at Plum Creek, the Barn at Raccoon Creek, Highlands Ranch Mansion, The Sanctuary and Wedgewood at The Pines at Genesee. And if your venue is new to us, even better. Some of our best galleries came from places none of us had ever stood in.
If You Made It This Far
Then you probably care about the same thing I do, which is not really photography. It is the people. It is having something to hand your kids one day that shows them exactly who everybody was, on the best day, before anything changed.
We would love to be in the room for yours. Reach out through the contact page and tell us when and where you are thinking.
Laughter. Memories. Magic.
Two One Photography is based in Castle Pines, Colorado, and photographs weddings and engagements throughout Littleton, Castle Rock, Denver, Boulder, Colorado Springs, the Colorado mountain towns, and anywhere else a couple is willing to fly us.
