Allyson and Maciek were married on a stunning June day at the Manor House. June at the Manor House is stunning because it’s so green and beautiful. I asked these two love birds a few questions about their day and this is what they said…
In your words, how did you and Maciek meet?
We met in college at Northwestern University. Mutual friends set us up on our first date which was in Downtown Chicago!
How did the Maciek propose?
Maciek proposed on the top of Loveland Pass on the Continental Divide trail while we were hiking (elevation 13,000) on a beautiful clear winter day! It was so windy that he didn’t actually give me the ring until we got back to our car after the hike for fear it would have blown away on the peak!
What was your favorite moment of your wedding day?
Every moment was amazing, but we ended up doing a “last song” at the end of the evening (Sarah Vaughan’s “I’ve got a crush on you”) after all the guests had left where we had a private dance in our beautiful reception hall as our band serenaded us. So amazing!
Were there any funny moments to be remembered forever about your day? Where there any mishaps?
We had set aside pairs of sunglasses for the wedding party to use when being announced at the reception. They were accidentally put them out for guests to use during the outdoor ceremony so we had to go around collecting stray sunglasses from our guests right before we walked into the reception! We didn’t even care that that happened but appreciated their effort to correct the mistake.
Do you have any advice for a future bride to be/or groom before their wedding?
I said throughout that the wedding planning process was a lot like going shopping for clothes- definitely more fun when you are in the mood and only for a short amount of time! The minute it becomes stressful you are doing something wrong. Slow down and enjoy the process!
